The final pair of games in the Laois SFC take place in O’Moore Park this evening.
The Heath meet Ballyroan-Abbey in the opening clash at 5.30pm with Portarlington and St Joseph’s set to do battle at 7pm.
The Heath and Ballyroan-Abbey were both beaten in their opening game so are in straight knockout territory now. The losers go into the relegation playoffs while the winners go forward to Round 3.
The Heath were beaten by St Joseph’s in their opening game while Ballyroan-Abbey went down to Portarlington.
The Heath and Ballyroan-Abbey have met in a couple of high-profile games in their history with The Heath’s last championship win in 1993 coming after a replayed win over Ballyroan in the final.
Then, in 2007, The Heath won a relegation final between the two, to send Ballyroan-Abbey down to intermediate a year after they won the senior.
The second game also has historical links. Portarlington and St Joseph’s met in back-to-back finals in 1995 and 1996 – with one each.
Port, semi-finalists last year, beat Ballyroan-Abbey in their first game, while St Joseph’s beat The Heath.
