Despite a recent massive Lotto winning ticket being won in the county, the National Lottery has revealed that Laois is Ireland’s unluckiest county to pick a winning ticket.
Neighbours Kilkenny and Offaly were also announced to be unlucky in the Lotto winning steaks but another midlands county came out top of the list.
Louth boasts the most lotto jackpot winners per head of population since the games began in 1988.
Coming in second is Donegal, with Mayo in third place.
However in a voice clip on Midlands 103, spokesperson for the National Lottery, Fran Whearty, says that everyone has the same chance:
“With that being said, it doesn’t matter where you buy your ticket – everyone has the same about of luck.”
Abbeyleix bucks the trend
A Lotto Plus 2 winning ticket worth €250,000 sold in Laois was claimed only last week in Supervalu Abbeyleix.
