Camross Comhaltas Ceoltori Eireann won 10 individual Leinster titles and one ceili band title over the weekend.

The sweeping success was achieved by the local comhaltas at the Leinster Fleadh (Fleadh Laighean) in Bagenalstown on Saturday.

The band award went to the 15 – 18 céilí band.

The branch secretary Mary Collier was delighted with how all their young musicians performed.

“I don’t any Leinster branch had as much success,” she said.

“It really, really was good. To win titles in such difficult competitions really was great,” she said.

She paid tribute to their tutors Gina Reidy and Paul Finn who put in countless hours every Monday night with over 90 young musicians.

“We are really lucky to have good teachers, good kids and good parents,” Ms Collier said.

As part of Fleadh Laighean the young musicians were able to avail of workshops providing tuition to those hoping to expand on their music techniques.

Many of the young Camross musicians were in Miltown Malbay, Co Clare at the Willie Clancy Festival in the week preceding the Leinster Fleadh.

These are busy times for the Camross CCE Branch who recently held a fundraising concert for the Cuisle Centre to help with their costs of providing cancer services for patients in Laois in Ballyfin Community Centre.
