A range of events will be held to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg, a national day for children, on Saturday, June 23.
Such events include art workshops, cupcake making, hair braiding, music and dance shows in both Fitzmaurice Place and the Dunamaise Arts Centre.
Generation Laois will host a, ‘try an instrument event’, and a Drumming Circle with Eddie O’Neill, which is open to all ages in the Dunamaise Arts Centre from 12pm to 2pm.
A rap workshop will also take place in the Dunamaise Arts Centre for ages 10 and upwards from 4pm to 6pm. All events are free of charge, on a first come first serve basis.
Old Fort Festival
Cruinniú na nÓg coincides with The Old Fort Quarter Festival in Portlaoise, and Music Generation Laois are thrilled to present a performance by members of the Irish music extraordinaires the Rusangano Family, who will perform on the main Gig Rig on Saturday, June 23 at 7pm.
On Sunday 24 June, members of the Music Generation Laois School of Rock and Pop will perform on the Gig Rig as part of the Old Fort Quarter Festival at 1pm.
All Cruinniú na nÓg events have been programmed by the Arts Office of Laois County Council and funded by Creative Ireland.
