After all the glorious weather of the last number of weeks, we endured a bad night on the weather front.
Storm Hector battered Ireland last night with strong winds and driving rain.
While Laois escaped the worst of it, people in the county have woken up to a number of problems this morning.
Around 35,000 homes, farms and businesses have been left without power because of strong winds overnight countrywide.
The ESB are working to restore power to all areas and two faults are reported in Laois. One in Timahoe and the other in Portlaoise.
Meanwhile, motorists in the county are experiencing difficulty with falling trees.
Local authority workers in the midlands are clearing fallen trees from blocked local roads in several areas. Roads affected include the Portarlington to Tullamore road.
Take care out there!
