Mountrath was blessed with glorious sunshine for its family cycle and Street Feast event on Sunday.
About the only downside was that it occurred on the same day that Laois played Carlow in Croke Park and undoubtedly left some people with a dilemma on which to attend.
Thankfully Laois will have another day out against Dublin in the Leinster Final, so any fans who chose to stay in Mountrath can make that big game instead.
The event in Mountrath was a community get together.
Locals were encouraged to bring a dish of food to share with a barbecue available to cook burgers / sausages.
The event was held in conjunction with national Bike Week.
The Mountrath Bite Cycle featured free bike safety checks from 11 am. This was followed by a 10k and 3k cycle.
And once an appetite had developed amongst the hungry cyclists, the community picnic ran from 1.30 to 3.30 pm.
The event featured music, children’s entertainment and a face-painter, amongst other things.
It was held at Mountrath Amenity Area in conjunction with Mountrath Youth Project and Laois County Council.
