Anyone travelling around Portlaoise and the surrounding areas this weekend will face a number of road closures as the Laois Heartlands Rally takes place on Sunday, June 10.
Roads will be temporarily closed around Raheen and Deerpark on Sunday between 9am to 7pm.
List of road closures
Stage 1
Clonkeen, Clonadacasey, roundabout at Clonboyne at end of M7.
4 Roads near Oak School at Clonadacasey to south of the Hollow Bridge.
Coolnacartan to south of the Hollow Bridge. Raheen, Doon, Roskelton, Four Roads at Trumera, Clonenagh.
Stage 2
3 Roads at Clonreher Railway Bridge to three roads in Pallas Little. 3 Roads in Clontyglass Cappagh North to 3 Roads at Clonreher
Railway Bridge. Derrycloney Bridge, Barkmills, Esker, Cappanrush, Deerpark.
Main Street Portlaoise will be closed to vehicles from the Courthouse to junction with Church Avenue on Saturday June 9 from 6pm to 9pm. There will be no access onto Main Street from any lanes.
Laois Rally Sports Club are putting up signage and arranging manned points to divert traffic to an alternative route.
Local access will be provided in emergencies. A map indicating the routes to be closed and the alternative routes will be available for inspection here. Participants of the rally are not be permitted to view the maps.
