Parts of Laois will experience temperatures higher than those in one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world.
The mercury is predicted to reach 26 degrees in parts over the next few days which is higher than Lanzarote.
Met Eireann say: “Today will see dense patches of mist and fog for a time this morning. These will clear to give a warm day with sunny spells and a good deal of dry weather.
“A few showers will develop in the afternoon and evening, these most likely in the midlands, south and west. Highest temperatures of 20 to 24 degrees with light variable breezes, a little cooler along coasts.”
And things are set to get even better on Tuesday: “After any mist or fog clear, Tuesday will be warm and sunny.
“The morning will be largely dry. In the afternoon some heavy or thundery showers will develop in Munster.
“Highest temperatures of 20 to 26 degrees with moderate east to northeast breezes, warmest in the western half of the country.”
And the forecast for the remainder of the week is good too with temperatures not predicted to dip below 24 degrees.
There is one downside to these high temperatures and that is the possibility of thundery rain with lightening breaking out.
Let’s hope it stays!
