A very popular music group for babies, toddlers and parents called BabyJam begins in Portlaoise this week with mid-week classes.
Baby Jam is an early introduction to music for babies and Toddlers. It involves using music to kick-start learning such as movement skills, balance skills and focuses on gross motor skills, all while exploring different genres of music and themes each week.
As well as working on your toddler’s development, baby jam is also a fun class for both parent and toddler as it allows interaction, meeting new people (social skills) and helps gain confidence through participation.
As well as all these benefits, Baby Jam is an enjoyable class for both parent and child – and it’s suitable for children from 12 months to five years.
The group is organised by Carrie Haskins, who has a BA in Commercial Modern Music and has her own teaching business called Discover Music. She has been teaching kids and adults piano and singing for over seven years.
Current music themes have included, “Country Music’, Opera and Classical Music’ and novelty themes such as Halloween and Christmas. Come along and tap your feet to the rhythm of nursery rhymes and lullabies. Dance, sing and play with different instruments.
Classes are currently running every Saturday, from 10am to 11am in the Portlaoise Parish Centre.
As of next week, new mid-week classes will be on offer which include Monday, June 11, from 10am to 11am again in the Portlaoise Parish Centre.
On Tuesday, June 12, from 10am to 11am in Teach Dara Community Centre, Kildare Town. All classes as pay as you go, costing €8 per child or €14 for siblings.
