Izzy Pestell made an huge sacrifice and gave an incredible 12 inches of hair to the Little Princess Trust yesterday Tuesday May 22.
The eight year old Portlaoise girl had been growing her hair since September and according to her mother Elaine, Izzy always stuck with the idea.
“She was so happy to know that someone else would benefit from having her hair. I mentioned it once months ago and she just hung onto the idea,” Elaine said.
The Little Princess Trust
The Little Princess Trust provides wigs to children and young adults up to the age of 24, who have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.
Bankz Hair & Beauty salon did the cut for Izzy and is now being sent to the UK-based charity.
This isn’t the first time that a generous hair donation has been given in Bankz, with Portlaoise student Sarah Colbert giving an incredible 14 inches of hair to the Irish Cancer Society in April.
As Izzy’s hair was not 14 inches, it wasn’t eligible for the Irish Cancer Society’s ‘Rapunzel’ programme.
As for managing 12 inches of hair on a very-active eight year old? “A nightmare! But it was worth it and she is delighted to know that another girl will have her hair,” said Elaine.
