There are reports of huge tailbacks on the M7 outside Portlaoise as a vehicle is on fire.
AA Roadwatch says that care is required as the vehicle is emitting large plumes of black smoke.
They say: “There is a vehicle on fire in the hard shoulder of the M7 southbound between J15 Ballybrittas and J16 Portlaoise East.
“Care is advised as smoke may affect visibility.”
There are reports of large volumes of traffic heading southbound as a result.
Motorists are best advised to find alternative routes at present.
It is unclear if anyone has been injured at this point.
