Killanure Primary School had it’s official opening on Sunday afternoon.
The school, which built an extension in the summer of 2017, was officially opened by Minister Charlie Flanagan.
The rural school has 41 pupils and four teachers and they celebrated the occasion with many of the students performing musical pieces for all the crowd.
There was a large turnout to support the school in the new venture and Minister Flanagan spoke about the importance of supporting rural schools.
The school has four teachers, Ms Reynolds who is the principal, Joe Phelan (Camross hurler, Laois hurler of the year), Ms O’Donnell and Miss Fiona Delaney.
It also has two Part time Special Educational Needs teachers.
Father John Lalor P.P was there to bless the new school.
Fr Lalor will also celebrate his Golden Jubilee as a priest on June 10 this year.
