A bursary of €5,000 will be shared amongst the successful artists in Electric Picnic’s Diverse Individual Visual Artist, (D.I.V.A.)
This is the third year of the programme, which allows artists to exhibit an existing work at the largest festival in Ireland.
A maximum of four can share the bursary, who will then help to create the backdrop of Electric Picnic to 55,000 festival goers.
Works from all mediums, styles and philosophies are welcomed.
The artists awarded the D.I.V.A. bursary will live and work onsite for a duration during the “build phase” of the festival and will use this time to adapt their chosen work to this very unique environment.
Works must be installed and completed by August 24, 2018.
Artists are responsible for providing the structures and materials required for the installation of their work and adaptation to the environment in question. Certain resources can be made available to the artists subject to availability and advance arrangement.
How to apply
As the work will already be in existence, the process will simply involve an email including photographs of the work, together with a description of the work and a short biography of the artist’s background and experience.
A short description of how you might adapt the work to the festival environment would be advantageous.
Past D.I.V.A artist, Paul Connell, said: “Being a part of DIVA, and working with some truly talented artists and curators was the best possible opportunity for an eager 20 year old artist!
Electric Picnic as a venue is the most amazing place to exhibit work, and feel creativity in the air. If it weren’t for D.I.V.A, I wouldn’t have the confidence I now have as a visual artist,” he added.
To apply, email sorcha@eventdesignstudio.ie.
Deadline for applications is Wednesday May 30, 2018.
