Laois County Council took in a total of €2,254,773.53 in development contributions in the 2017, it has been revealed.
Details were outlined to the monthly meeting of Laois County Council today by CEO John Mulholland.
Out of this,€867,482.49 was spent on a number of projects in the county.
These were: Specific improvement Togher Link Road, Portlaoise – €80,000; Clonrerher tie-in, Portlaoise 110,000; Borris Road Realignment, Portlaoise – 80,000; Portlaoise Western Circular Clonrooske Link, 250,000; Parking at Portarlington – 11,121.69; Civic Plaza Portlaoise – 5,098.00; Portarlington Swimming Pool – 63,750; Abbeyleix Library Development – 8,000; Portarlington Library – 38,598.37; Portlaoise Library – 104,657.07; Arthouse at Stradbally – 116,257.36
Cllr Brendan Phelan said he would like to see the money being spent on projects spread out between the three municipal districts in the county.
For example, he said the Durrow Regeneration Project is 60 – 70% complete.
“The committee there is working day and night. They are making great progress,” he said.
“I would like to see schemes being identified and the funds being divvied up,” he said.
