Catherine Scully, who worked for the Citizens Information Centre in Portlaoise, has retired.
Ms Scully served on the Board of Management for 19 years and was an incredibly popular member.
She was also chairperson of the centre for five years.
Colleague Oliver Phelan led the tributes. He said: “Catherine really is one in a million.
“She served the Board of Management for 19 years and will truly be missed by everyone here.”
Citizens Information Centre Portlaoise was started in 1991 to provide free, comprehensive and confidential information on people rights and entitlements.
The CIC established itself officially in Portlaoise some four years later in 1995 and has provided that service ever since with outreach services in various town on occasion over the years.
They moved into a new premises above Mulhall’s Super Valu supermarket, in Lyster Square in April 2015.
