The Laois Rose selection night is to take place this coming Sunday in the Mildands Park Hotel and there will be a new man on the microphone.
The ever so popular event is expected to have hundreds of supporters gather to watch on the 16 girls competing to be this years Laois rose.
However, this will see Graiguecullen man Brendan Hennessy replaced with Galway native Ollie Turner who will MC the night and interview each rose contestant.
Ollie has been working on Galway Bay FM for 18 years in a variety of different roles – working in commentary and presenting.
He is well known in Rose of Tralee circles across the country and has been MC for other selection nights for the past 12 years.
It goes without saying that the well known Brendan Hennessy will be missed.
His witty sense of humour and ability to have the audience in stitches of laughter within a matter of seconds are just some of his brilliant skills as a presenter.
Hennessy started working with the Rose of Tralee back in 2004.
He hosted the first Carlow selection night that year and has become known as ‘Mr Rose of Tralee’ – having hosted almost every county’s selection night, including Dublin.
2017 Laois Rose Maeve Dunne will pass on the Laois Rose Sash on Sunday night to the 15th Laois Rose who will represent Laois for 2018.
