Dogs are truely man’s best friend.
So when picking a name for your doggo or pupper, you want to pick the best of the lot.
Laois’s favourite dogs names has been revealed by Petmania and it seems that extreme weather events and cult TV programmes have a huge influence on what we name our canines.
The name Bella makes the top of the list with Alife coming in second. Cooper, Milo and Poppy all came in third, fourth and fifth consecutively.
‘Roxy’, ‘Buddy’ and ‘Daisy’ all tied in sixth position with an equal number of entrants.
Other notable entries on the list include Ophelia, Thor, Elvis Pugsley and Caroline.
It would appear Laois people also like to give our four-legged friends more human names too, with the research also finding that pet parents used names such as ‘Rosie’, ‘Hughie’ and ‘Ollie’.
References from popular movies, characters and cult TV series include ‘Thor’, ‘Harley Quinn’, ‘Captain Holt’, ‘Dobby’, ‘Mulder and Scully’ and ‘McGregor’.
