On this week’s Property Watch, we are going to focus on the five highest populated towns in Laois.
House prices tend to correlate with the level activity in an area, such as employment and infrastructure.
Higher populated towns will always have better access to these key factors.
According to the 2016 census, Portlaoise are well-ahead of the rest of the towns with 22,050 (population has definitely increased since), Portarlington have 8,368, Mountmellick are third with 4,777, while not much separates Mountrath on 1,774 and Abbeyleix with 1,770.
Our guidelines this week are houses with more than three bedrooms and must be located within the town.
