FRIDAY MARCH 23

Daffodil Day

Friday March 23 marks Daffodil Day and there will be daffodil badges and pins for sale all around the county.

Rebecca Storm concert in Rathdowney 

Rebecca Storm will be teaming up with St Fergal’s College Choir, Rathdowney, for a concert in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney, at 7.30pm.

Traditional music in Spink

There will be a good auld traditional Irish music session in Headen’s Bar, Spink, this Friday at 9pm.

Battle of brains in Mountrath

Mountrath & District Camera club are holding a quiz in Mountrath Golf Club at 8pm. Tables can be of six people maximum and cost €40 per table. An Easter Hamper prize draw and random raffles will be given away on the night.

A night of comedy in Mountmellick 

Frances Harney’s new wacky original comedy ‘The Inspector’ will be performed tonight and Saturday March 24 in Mountmellick Arts Centre at 7.30pm. The play is in aid of Ballyfin parish, Ballyfin AC and the Cuisle Centre.

Friends Together Portarlington

The Friends Together group meet every Friday in the Scouts Den on Main Street, Portarlington, from 2.30pm to 5pm. The club offers games and activities with a play area fro chuldren and new members are always welcome.

SATURDAY MARCH 24

Defibrillator fundraiser Mountmellick 

A fundraiser to buy a defibrillator for public use in Mountmellick is taking place in Turley’s Pub, Mountmellick. Music is by JL Sound and admission is free. There will be a raffle and bucket collection on the night.

Slieve Bloom Walks

This week’s walk takes place in Heywood for 6k around the lake starting at 2pm.

Bingo in Borris

The Senior Citizens monthly bingo takes place in St Candice’s Hall from 3pm to 5pm.

SUNDAY MARCH 25

Laois Birdwatch

Laois Birdwatch are heading to the hide at Ashton’s Callow on the Little Brosna river. Meet at the old gates to Birr Castle at 2pm and wear wellies!

Camross Vintage Club event

Camross Vintage Club are holding their first event of the year with a Road Run and ploughing in the village from 12pm.

Billy Lawlor Memorial Cup

Durrow/Cullohill Anglers are holding their second trout fishing competition of the season for the Billy Lawlor Memorial cup. Entries will be taken at Lawlor’s flower shop at 9.30am and weigh-in time is 6pm.
