Blasts of green, white and gold flooded the streets of Mountrath today for their St Patrick’s Day parade.
The smaller community showed they could put on a display to rival any large town or city as hundreds walked, jumped, danced and drove in the parades.
Mountrath had music ringing out from Camross Comhaltas as the different groups lined the streets.
Multi-cultural experience
Many different cultures and diasporas were showing their St Patrick’s Day parade today.
Mountrath Polish community combined both Polish traditional dress and Irish colours while Mountrath Foróige said Cead Mile Failte to ‘future Irish legends’ with flags from around the world.
Also at the Mountrath parade were local playschools and primary schools, St Aengus FC, Slieve Bloom, Mountrath and Castletown GAA, Mountrath Scouts, Mountrath Kettlebell club and many more different community groups – Brian Boru even made a special appearance for the day!
