It’s always a most enjoyable day and this year’s St Patrick’s day festivities around Laois will bring a bit of fun and joy to every community in the county.
We reckon there will be 15 parades across Laois over the course of the day.
There is normally a good spread of times but with the Ireland rugby team set to face England in a Grand Slam showdown at 2.45pm, most of the parades are taking place in the morning.
The first parade of the day takes place in Vicarstown at 9am and it is one of three parades in the parish as Timahoe kicks off at 10am with Stradbally the last at 11am.
The parade in Rathdowney will begin at 1pm and those taking part are asked to assemble at St Fergal’s College by 12.30pm.
Punters in Abbeyleix are asked to dig out their green geansai while the Rosenallis parade has a strong theme.
They are going with ‘Home is where the Heart is’ and refreshments will be served in the Community Centre afterwards.
The biggest parade in the county is in Portlaoise and after originally being in doubt, it is now going ahead from 12.30pm.
The 5km Streets of Portlaoise will be held before hand at 11am.
Anyway, we’ve compiled the list of all the times of the parades around the county.
