A woman has been arrested following an overnight stabbing.
LaoisToday understands that a man was stabbed in the back by a female.
Gardai say that there was an assault incident in a premises in Ballacolla village last night. It was initially reported that the incident occurred in Hayes Pub – but that wasn’t the case, instead it was in a nearby building.
They say this resulted in a stab wound in the back and the attack was carried out by a woman.
LaoisToday understands that the man in question is in his early 40s and the incident happened around 10.30pm.
The man stumbled out of the premises after the attack and we understand he was spotted by three passers by who alerted Gardai.
The injured party was taken to Tullamore Hospital.
However, his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A female was arrested on foot of same and is currently in custody in Portlaoise Garda Station.
