A pro-abortion group are holding an information day in Portlaoise this weekend.
The Laois For Choice Regional Abortion Rights Group will set up a stall in Portlaoise on Saturday February 24.
The stall will be located outside the Post Office from 12 to 2pm.
The group say: “We are happy to answer any question you may have relating to the upcoming referendum.
“We will have on hand fact and evidence based information about compassionate healthcare, reproductive rights and the effect of the 8th Amendment on Irish life.
“Should you have any queries about the referendum, abortion rights or women’s health, we would be happy to help.
“We in Laois for Choice are dedicated to ensuring the people of Laois are provided with accurate and factual information prior to May’s referendum.
“If you are interested to get involved or would like to know how to help Repeal the 8th, please come along! The more, the merrier.
“If you would like to know more, please follow us on Twitter @LaoisForChoice or email us at ProChoiceLaois@gmail.com. You can also find further information about our mandate at https://www.abortionrightscampaign.ie”
The event comes after Katie Ascough, the high-profile, former UCD Student Union president, spoke in Portlaoise on Thursday about the upcoming referendum on the Eighth Amendment.
Ms Ascough came to prominence when she was impeached by UCD students late last year.
The campaign to remove Ms Ascough from her role began after she removed a page on access to abortion information from the student union’s Winging It fresher’s magazine following legal advice.
