A Laois hotel has made the top ten of best hotels in TripAdvisor’s 2018 Travellers’ Choice Awards.
Castle Durrow came 7th and was the only hotel from the midlands to feature in the top ten, rubbing shoulders with hotels from Kerry, Cork, Dublin and Mayo.
In fact the Durrow hotel is the only hotel from the midlands and the entire centre of Ireland to feature in the list.
Reviews on TripAdvisor say of Castle Durrow Stunning “5* quality hotel full of history and beauty”.
Extension
The hotel and wedding venue submitted a planning application to Laois County Council last July to add an extension to the hotel.
The application was submitted by Peter Stokes, seeking permission to build the single-storey extension which involves a flat-roofed, single-storey extension to the east of the main hotel premises.
Unsurprisingly in the TripAdvisor list, Kerry has the most hotels featured in the country’s top 25, with seven chosen.
The Killarney Park Hotel takes top spot this year, knocking Harvey’s Point from Donegal from first place, the previous year.
After Kerry, Donegal and Dublin were next best represented on the list with four hotels each, followed by Cork with three, Mayo with two and one apiece for Laois, Clare, Limerick, Galway and Monaghan.
