Property prices in Laois have surged by up to 25 percent, according to the Irish Indepedent’s annual property price guide,’How Much is Your House Worth? 2018′.
The average house price in Laois is now €178,000.
The report states that Portlaoise is an ideal town for those now commuting to Dublin, as rent prices in the capital continue to rise.
“Buyers are now prepared to drive almost 100km to work, sparking huge house price surges in Laois, Carlow and Wexford,” according to the report.
The data collected from local estate agents all over Ireland shows prices are up by 25 percent in Co Laois, with Portlaoise being the most popular target at 90km away from Dublin.
High price to pay
The average Dublin 14 home is €625,000 and €410,000 in Dublin 15.
“Prices in Kildare are increasing so much that people can’t afford it any more, so they are looking at Portlaoise and Portarlington,” Paul Kelly of DNG Kelly told the Irish Indepedent.
Prices are up 11 percent in Monaghan, 10 percent in Cavan, Westmeath and Offaly and 8 percent in Carlow.
