Motorists in many parts of Laois faced serious disruption on roads following extremely heavy snowfall.
Reports suggest the worst affected areas were around Stradbally and Portlaoise.
A car left the road just outside Stradbally this morning and ended up in a ditch.
While cars also left the road in three separate incidents around Portarlington.
There are currently heavy tailbacks on all the major routes into Portlaoise as people try to get to work and school.
Slushy conditions have been reported on the M7 Limerick/Dublin Road both ways between Roscrea and Birdhill, while the road has been closed northbound at Birdhill following a crash.
Around 13 cars are believed to have been involved in crashes on the M7 yesterday evening, with one person airlifted to hospital and the road closed in both directions for a number of hours.
Road temperatures are below zero in areas including the M7 in Mountrath and Portlaoise, M6 in Milltownpass, N6 in Kilbeggan, N4 in Ballinalack, N52 in Fivealley, N80 in Killeigh and the N7 in Roscrea.
So the message from us here at LaoisToday is to slow down and arrive alive.
