The N80 junction in Clonaghadoo which has seen a number of ‘tragic fatal incidents’ occur will have a number of safety measures put in place this year.
Councillor Seamus McDonald raised the issue at today’s Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick Municipal District meeting.
Cllr McDonald proposed to erect signs for Clonaghadoo School at the N80 junction.
Senior Engineer Paul McLoughlin said, “There is currently a planning process underway for proposed safety improvements at this location.”
Mr McLoughlin also said he was aware of all the ‘tragic, fatal incidents’ that occured there.
Cllr David Goodwin asked what consultation was made with locals there and that any measures would cause, ‘significant change’.
Mr McLoughlin said that there is consultation open at a local level for residents.
