The People of the Year awards is back and the search is on to find local heroes in Laois.
The awards are for, “ordinary people who do extraordinary things,” for their family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues or community. They can be a huge part of the Laois community or just someone who puts other people first.
The closing date for nominations is Friday 19 January. The winners will be announced at the People of the Year annual awards ceremony on RTÉ One on Saturday, March 3, 2018.
Today with Seán O’Rourke
The awards are organised by the Rehab Group, in conjuction with RTÉ Radio 1’s ‘Today with Seán O’Rourke’ show. A selection of people who nominated others will be brought on air to talk about why the person they selected is an everyday hero.
Rehab Group chief executive Mo Flynn said, “Everybody knows someone who is always doing something for others, but these people often go unrewarded and unrecognised. This is a chance to say thank you to them in a unique way.”
Seán O’Rourke added, “Some of the most extraordinary people I have interviewed over the years are the unsung, everyday heroes. So if you know someone you’d like to nominate, please nominate them today.”
