We’ve had snow and ice – and now we are set to get strong winds and driving rain.
Most of us are waking up to snow and ice on the ground in Laois this morning as the storm approaches.
Strong winds are expected throughout the day with rain also, and there is a Status Yellow wind warning for Munster, Leinster and Galway from 6pm.
Very strong winds will occur this evening into the early hours of tomorrow.
The rain is expected to turn to sleet and snow in the north leading to significant accumulations.
The Road Safety Authority and AA Roadwatch have urged motorists to take care on the roads, particularly drivers of high-sided vehicles during the strong winds.
Motorists around Laois are reporting icy conditions this morning so the message from LaoisToday is a simple one – slow down and take care!
No roads salted around the Portlaoise area this morning, by extension this must be for all of Laois. Take care. @LaoisCouncil
