Wrap up well folks because temperatures are set to plummet to as low as -5 degrees this weekend.
According to the latest forecast from Met Éireann, temperatures will drop below freezing in most of the country from Friday to Sunday, with Saturday and Sunday night expected to be exceedingly cold.
It’s not all bad news though. There will be sunshine to go with the drop in temperatures, with sunny spells expected throughout Saturday and particularly on Sunday.
Aftermath of storm Eleanor
The winds in the aftermath of Storm Eleanor will subside slightly but are still strong, and will be felt with temperatures forecasted to reach no higher than 5-7 degrees before Sunday.
At night the temperatures will drop to as low as -2 on Friday night and to -5 in places on Saturday and Sunday night, with ice, frost and freezing fog expected as a result.
There’s no tropical heat wave scheduled for next week either so our advice is to get the extra blankets and hot water bottles ready, you might need them in the coming days.
