‘A Camross Christmas’, a festive recording by Camross Folk Choir could be the ideal stocking filler you are looking for.
Priced at just €10, it is available from any member of the choir and selected outlets in Mountrath, Castletown and Borris-in-Ossory.
The CD will also be on sale at the choir’s Carol Service in Camross church on Friday December 22 at 7.30pm.
All proceeds go to two very worth causes – Pieta House Roscrea and Laois/Offaly families for autism (LOFFA).
The CD was recorded in Castletown Church recently and features the 35 members of the choir – 18 adults and 17 children.
“We recorded a CD eleven years ago,” said choir master Patricia Kilmartin.
However, only 10 of the current members of the choir were involved in that recording.
“We have so many new members so we felt it would be nice to have a recording with the new members, so I suggested it,” Ms Kilmartin said.
The choir has fundraised over the past 12 years for many charities including St Vincent De Paul, the Simon Community and Aware.
Interest
“Within our own community there has been a big interest in the CD,” the choir master said.
The CD is a mixture of Christmas classics including Angels We Have Heard On High, Silent Night, Oh Holy Night and Frosty the Snowman.
The carol service in Camross Hall on Friday night is eagerly awaited.
Those attending will be treated to mulled wine and refreshments in addition to a night of festive entertainment.
