Three men were arrested and are currently being detained in Portlaoise Garda Station following the discovery of stolen property in vehicle in Emo on Friday night.
The men were caught in Emo at about 10pm with a quantity of power tools – estimated to be worth €3,000 – as a result of garda monitoring of suspicious behaviour. They stopped the car and discovered the items.
The three men, all aged in their late teens, are believed to be based in Dublin.
This follows on from a similar incident in November when Gardai recovered a substantial amount of power tools in Mountmellick.
The recovery included drills, strimmers, consaws and chainsaws among other items.
Gardai have regularly appealed to the public not to purchase tools they may believe to have been stolen.
