Two men are currently in Portlaoise Garda Station following a heroin seizure last night.
The pair, who are both aged in their 30s, were discovered acting suspiciously last night.
They were in a car in the car park of Portarlington GAA club at the time.
The incident took place around 9.30pm and when Gardaí stopped them, around €2,000 in heroin was recovered.
In other news, gardaí are warning members of the public about another scam.
Laois Crime Prevention Officier Sergeant Graham Kavanagh Crime is asking the public to be aware that they should not accept phone calls asking for credit card details to pay speeding fines.
He is issueing the warning as a result of a number of calls from people that have received such calls.
