Gardaí are warning members of the public about another scam.
Laois Crime Prevention Officier Sergeant Graham Kavanagh Crime is asking the public to be aware that they should not accept phone calls asking for credit card details to pay speeding fines.
He is issueing the warning as a result of a number of calls from people that have received such calls.
He said: “This is another scam.
“People should not accept phone calls asking for credit card details to pay speeding fines.”
In other news, a man has been arrested after he was caught in possession of heroin.
Local Gardaí in Mountmellick arrested the 30-year-old in Mountmellick.
They made the arrest following the search of a house in College Avenue in the town.
