Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s following an assault and robbery incident.
It took place today on Main Street, Newbridge, Co. Kildare.
At approximately 1.30am the injured man was returning to his car when he was assaulted and had his car stolen.
He was later taken to Naas General hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.
A search operation was carried out by Gardaí in Newbridge and a man was arrested a short distance away from where the incident took place.
He is currently detained in Newbridge Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
