The young Laois man killed in a Dublin workplace accident has been named locally as Alan Mulhall, originally from Emo but heavily involved in the Stradbally community.
Alan, who was 34, was married to Vikki Doogue and the couple had four young children – two sets of twins, three boys and one girl.
Alan was the second eldest of four children to dad Frank and mam Trisha. He is survived by his brothers David and Aidan and sister Rhonda.
Although living in Portlaoise, he was very involved in life in Stradbally in recent years, playing soccer with Stradbally Town and football with Stradbally GAA club.
He previously played with Emo from underage right up to the adult grades and went to primary school in Emo and secondary school in Mountmellick.
He had played with Stradbally Town this season, most recently last weekend in their 4-3 win over Portlaoise Shamrocks, and trained with the club on Wednesday night. He was also a keep fit enthusiast.
In a statement released last night, the Combined Counties Football League paid tribute to his efforts on the field and expressed their shock at his passing.
Many of Alan’s also friends paid tribute to him on Facebook last night.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Alan, who worked as an electrician, was killed during an accident early on Thursday morning while working in Dublin.
A statement from the Garda Press Office confirmed the incident.
