A young Laois man has been killed in a tragic accident in Dublin today.
It’s understood the man, who is aged in his 30s, was working when the incident occurred on a site at St Patrick’s Hospital in Dublin 8 just before 8am this morning.
It’s believed the man is married with a young family and is well known in his local community.
A statement from the Gardai issued this evening said:
“Gardaí at Kilmainham Dublin 8 together with the Health and Safety Authority are investigating a fatal work place accident which occurred at St Patrick’s Hospital, Steevens Lane, Dublin 8 at approximately 7.50am this morning, Thursday, November 23.
“A 34 year old man was fatally injured during the incident. It appears from initial investigations that the deceased was struck by a large fuse box.
“He was removed to St James Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The deceased man is from Co Laois.”
