A youth is in custody after a man was stabbed to death in Edenderry last night.
Gardaí were called to a house on Green Road, Ballyfore, Edenderry shortly before 8pm on Sunday evening following reports of a man with serious stab wounds.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The house is currently sealed off pending the arrival of the State Pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau, who will carry out a forensic examination of the area.
The body of the dead man remains at the scene.
The garda spokesman said they were investigating a “fatal wounding near Ballyfore and a person has been detained at Tullamore Garda Station in respect of the matter. Gardai are conducting a preliminary investigation surrounding the death.”
Gardai have sealed off the house and are carrying out examinations.
A conference is expected to take place at Tullamore Garda Station today.
