A 7-year-old was brought to hospital in Dublin after being knocked down by a car in Portarlington yesterday afternoon.
The incident occurred at 3.45pm on Patrick Street in the town. The young boy was crossing between traffic and walked out in front of a vehicle, according to Gardai. The incident is being investigated by Gardai.
The child suffered only minor injuries but was brought to hospital in Dublin as a precaution.
Elsewhere, Gardai in Tullamore are investigating a serious assault in Tullamore on Sunday evening.
One man attended the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore with non life threatening injuries after being attacked by another man with an axe.
The incident occurred outside McDonalds on the Church Road in the town between 5.55pm and 6.15pm.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the assault to contact them in Tullamore Garda Station on (057) 932 7600.
Finally, Gardai are urging parents to have their children under control this evening and to be very careful during the Halloween celebrations.
