Ford centenary celebration in Laois Shopping Centre on Sunday

Laois will mark the centenary of the Ford motor company in Ireland this weekend when the ever popular Indoor Vintage and Classic Motor Show returns to Laois Shopping Centre.

It is anticipated that there will be a large selection of vintage cars – a 30 year rule applies – along with the early and not so early Ford Models.

The event takes place in Laois Shopping Centre this Sunday, October 29.

Henry Ford famously declared ‘you can have any colour, as long as it’s black,” so the earlier models may feature the uniform colour of the early days of the company.

Among the Ford models on show will be: 1906 Model N, Model T, Model A, Model B, Model Y, Model Ford Perfect, Ford Anglia, Ford Poplar, Consul.

Laois Ballinakill Vintage and Classic Owners Club are again behind the event, supported by Laois Shopping Centre and Downey’s Autostop Ford Dealers.

It has been confirmed that 10 Fiat Classic cars have also been booked for the event.

The organisers are very much looking forward to the event.

They say it is a unique event offering the opportunity to see the cars driving by your father or grandfather in years gone by.

Charity

And the event is all in a good cause too. This year’s chosen charity is the Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The  vintage club chose that charity in recognition of the work they do on behalf of people in Laois with impaired vision.

Local members from the Lions Club in Laois will be doing bucket collections to help raise funds.
