A young man was threatened with a knife and robbed in Portlaoise while walking home on Monday night.
The 21-year-old had a sum of money taken after being threatened by the male suspect.
He escaped injury but Gardai are appealing for information and can be contacted in Portlaoise on 057 8674100.
Elsewhere in a separate incident, a man has been detained at Portlaoise Garda Station following a burglary at a business premises in the town over night.
At approximately 1.50am this morning, gardai received an intruder on a premises and when they arrived on the scene they found the front door open.
The intruder tried to escape but was swiftly apprehended and detained at Portlaoise.
It’s understood the business involved was a local solicitor’s office.
