Gardai have seized drugs, a sawn-off shotgun and amunition in a raid of a house on the Laois/Offaly border.
They say that the combined estimated value of the find is in excess of €1 million.
Cocaine, amphetamine and cocaine herb were among the drugs recovered in Geashill.
A firearm was also recovered at the scene and a 34-year-old male was arrested.
A shotgun (sawn-off) and large numbers of cartridges and rounds of ammunition were also recovered.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act, 1996 at Tullamore Garda Station. (He can be held for up to 7 days.)
The operation was led by the Laois/Offaly Drugs unit assisted by local Garda units based in Tullamore.
The investigation is ongoing.
In an unrelated matter, Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a building contractor was assaulted by a group of people.
It is understood that the builder was carrying out work on behalf of the council at the time.
