For Emma Lawlor from GTL Life and Pensions in Portlaoise, a financial planning business has been in her family for over 40 years now.
Her late father John set it up in Pearse Street in Dublin in January 1977 before moving it to his home town of Straffan in Kildare in the late 1990s. Emma took it over in 2010 and with John passing away in the spring of 2011, Emma commuted from Portlaoise for a couple of years before relocating in 2014.
Emma is married to Frankie Cullinan from Borris-in-Ossory and with the couple expecting their first child, a decision was made to move the business to Portlaoise.
A premises was bought at 24 Jessop Street (opposite the Midlands Park Hotel) and with Portlaoise woman Deirdre Kelly joining the team alongside Emma, a long-standing business had a new home and a bright new future.
Emma – who has a degree in Business Management and is a Qualified Finanical Advisor – has worked in the industry for over 10 years.
She specialises in planning for people’s retirement, helping people to save for a rainy day, college funds or to protect their income and their families. She takes pride in her work and is dedicated to the principles of integrity.
