Ireland v Moldova mightn’t have set the pulses racing on Friday but for six young Irish fans from Ballybrittas it was almost as exciting as a World Cup final.

Callum, Rian, Max, Daithi, Dylan and Rowan were completely engrossed in the game from the before tip-off  – even performing their own pre-match huddle.

The footage was recorded for Three Mobile’s #thecallup campaign and featured on buzz.ie.

And some of the lads have a career in punditry with one of them calling the correct 2-0 score.

However, a prediction of 69-0 was slightly off the mark, particularly with Shane Long’s goal-drought.

Thankfully the lads had to wait less than two minutes for Daryl Murphy’s first goal to arrive.

To say they were excited would be an understatement.

Their celebrations vastly eclipsed those by the players actually on the pitch in the Aviva Stadium.

Chips

In between the action, the lads engage in standard drinking of Coke and throwing chips in the air to catch with their mouths, before the main course of pizzas arrive.

Rounds of coke make way for orange during the course of the game, also.

Renditions of songs followed along the lines of those in stadium, with Come on You Boys in Green and Ole Ole giving an airing by the young Laois men.

The reaction to the misses by our out-of-form striker drew some ire while the referee’s decisions were also questioned on occasion. “Whip it,” was the general advice given to the Irish players.
