Appeal for witnesses after spate of robberies across Laois

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run

Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance after a number of robberies took place in the last few days.

Yesterday, it was reported that a house in Rosenallis had been ransacked.

But now Gardaí say that a second burglary was also reported yesterday in the Glenbarrow area of Rosenallis.

The rear window of the property was prized open and cash was taken.

Both incidents occurred just after 9am and both houses were examined by scenes of crime unit.

Also, another burglary occurred yesterday at a house at St Joseph’s terrace Portarlington between 9pm and 10pm.

They assailants broke through the front door and cash and jewellery was taken.

We have also just learned that two burglaries occurred on Monday 2, during the day.

The first took place in Derrycarrow Camross between 9am and 2pm.

The front window was prized open but nothing has been reported taken as yet.

The second robbery on Monday happened on the Rushin Road Mountrath between 8.30am and 4pm.

The front window was prized open again and the alarm pulled off the wall.

This house was also ransacked and jewellery was taken.

Gardaí are investigating links between all the burglaries.

No arrests have been made in any of the cases and anyone with information are asked to contact Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 8674100.
