There was a big turnout at the Pike of Rushall Catholic Church for the bicentenary and re-dedication of the church in the parish of Castletown last weekend.
This was the bi-century celebration and as part of that, the parish decided to dedicate the church to Naomh Garadh.
This was an early Christian Saint who was associated with the townland of Cashel, near the Pike of Rushall.
As part of the dedication, Holy Water Fonts from the site of Naomh Garadh’s church have now been preserved and put on display in the church grounds as a remembrance of the deep Christian roots in the parish.
The chief celebrants were Monsignor Michael Ryan and Fr Willie Hennessy.
They blessed the Font which, originally located at the historic Cashel Hermitage, was donated by Ivan Bennett and the family.
A presentation of the Bene Merente Medal was also made by Fr Hennessy to Una Kealey who was the lead of the choir for 32 years.
The day was a success thanks to the hard work of the committee of Pat Bennett, Mick Phelan, Madeline Dollard, Batt Lynch and Seamus Fahy.
