Killeshin Wheelers Cycling Club had their second annual
Mark Attride Memorial Cycle last weekend.
The event was a huge success again this year with 22
cyclists doing the full 290 km cycle, starting in Achill
on Saturday morning.
The group was joined in Athlone for the second leg by
members of the Attride family.
When the cyclists arrived back in Killeshin the group had grown to nearly 40.
This cycle is run in conjunction with a table quiz and raffle
that took place in The Glenside Lounge on August 25.
Last year the club presented cheques for €2,500 to The Irish
Motor Neurone Disease Association and St.Claire’s Hospitality
Kitchen, Graiguecullen, both of which do great work.
This year, sponsorship cards were introduced and the cyclist
have been very successful in raining money for both charities.
So far, over €10,000 has been raised, far more than last year and the club will be presenting cheques to the charities in the next couple of weeks.
Killeshin Wheelers Cycling Club is going from strength to strength
and and has attracted many new members this year.
