Today is Junior Certificate results day and once again our photographers were out and about.
On a day when over 1,000 Laois students collected their exam marks, we headed either end of the county to check in with how they got on.
At Colaiste Íosagáin in Portarlington 173 students sat the Junior Cert exams with school management very happy with results across the board.
This was the first year that students sat the new English curriculum, with continuous assessment. They will also receive a profile of achievement for this later in the year.
The results in Clonaslee were also well received – where a total of 49 students sat the exams.
Figures sent out by the State Examinations Commission reveal that 1,006 sat the exams last June.
This is the first year that the new Framework for Junior Cycle has been examined, in one subject only, English.
Nationally, only four students have received top grades in 12 higher-level subjects, compared to 10 a year ago.
The results will be available from schools over the course of the day and online at examinations.ie from 4pm.
