Martial arts facilities often see a lot more fighting than love but these roles were reversed at SBG Portarlington on Friday evening.
Head coach at SBG Portarlington Philip Mulpeter got down on one knee and proposed to shocked girlfriend Alvina Tynan in a display that is sure to make your heart melt.
Despite her shock, Alvina was able to gather herself to say yes!
Club members were on hand to video the occasion and offer their immediate congratulations.
The reponses and well-wishes came pouring in on the club’s Facebook page.
Mulpeter – who runs the Straight Blast Gym in Portarlington – was due to return to action against Team Ryano’s ‘Magic’ Myles Price at BAMMA 30 in a lightweight bout earlier this summer. But that another one fell through meaning his July fight didn’t go ahead.
“Mulpeter (7-5) is well known on the local scene for his all action style,” said a piece on the Severe MMA website. “He has been involved in some of the most exciting bouts in Irish MMA history including victories over Richard Gorey and John Donnelly in exciting back and forth bouts inside the Battle Zone FC cage.”
We wish Philip and Avina all the best with their engagement, and if their wedding is anything like the proposal, it is sure to be spectacular.
