That’s a wrap for another year at Electric Picnic in Stradbally. And talk about seeing it out with a bang.
Duran Duran closed the show on Sunday night’s main stage, but it was the people of Laois who helped create the wonderful atmosphere once again. The team here at LaoisToday were flat out getting photos of locals throughout the day including getting a few snaps with well-known celebrities such as Brent Pope, the RTE rugby pundit who took the time to chat to us.
All the festival-goers happily posed with our LaoisToday sign, as we thoroughly enjoyed covering the festival for the first time. We’re also glad to report that the sign made it home safe and sound.
Courtwood men Luke Doyle and Mark O’Halloran were spotted enjoying the picnic along with Killenard woman Aoife Kirrane while our Columnist Donal Miller took to to the LaoisToday Snapchat account and we also bumped into Ryan Little and some of the St Paul’s U-12 football team who were enjoying the festival despite their loss in the county final the day before.
Local Stradbally man Joe Deegan was also enjoying the Electric Picnic and happily posed for the cameras and as did Timahoe’s Roghan Headed, Clonaslee’s Ger ‘Buster’ Dunne and Ronan Murray from Rosenallis.
George and Aileen Doyle were joined by two of their three children Michael and Ciara who were enjoying the last few hours before heading home to get ready for school on Monday morning. We also met some of the Cullahill clan in attendance, including Lucy O’Connor and Ruby McEvoy.
Rag ‘N’ Bone Man took to the main stage in the late afternoon singing the famous tunes “Skin” and “Human” while Elbow, the Dublin Gospel Choir, the Pretenders and the Skatalites were among the others to perform from the main stage.
Tickets for next year’s event went on sale this morning.
We can’t wait!
